This Readers Life – Sesame Noodles

In our house, both of us commute. So there are times where we just order out versus actually making an effort and making something at home. This is costly, and can take an insane amount of time. At the same time, my husband doesn’t have a lot of experience in the kitchen. Luckily we were able to find a new recipe, easy to make that we don’t have to ‘think’ about.

Ree (better known as the Pioneer Woman) has shared an amazing and simple recipe that tastes WONDERFUL! The best part about the recipe is that you can change it to suit your needs. I recommend angel hair pasta. We were able to find Chili Sesame oil, instead of hot chili oil (went to three different stores, in the LA area no less, and that’s what we found). You can substitute the low sodium things as well and it is still pretty tasty! The green onions really make the dish, in my opinion. We added grilled chicken to the side, but you could add other things to the noodles or leave as is.

The funniest part of it was the garlic. My husband was trying to figure out the best way to mince the garlic when I brought out our garlic press (which had been used for breaking up ice cubes in our freezer before that)–what a life saver! Seriously, if you get the opportunity, be sure to pick up a garlic press. It is an essential part of your kitchen game. Ours is like this, only with black grips.

The noodles were amazing. And the perfect meal or snack. I bet there’s a way we could use this as a side dish for a type of salad, but that will require further tweaking… As someone who isn’t the biggest fan of pasta, I found this an innovative way to eat it.

Have you ever had noodles like this? Do you just eat noodles as a meal? Any good ideas about what to add to this? Please share in the comments below!
