The Spoils:: #FCBD 2015 (Free Comic Book Day)

batgirlGothamGal is a devoted comic fan. Reading comics from an early age (TinTin, Archie, Katie Keene and much more), she has recently revisited her old interest and is branching out into the streets of unread comics and graphic novels! While she favors DC Comics, Marvel is slowly winning her over—but Vertigo, Image and IDW have so many new things to offer, she might just say she’s a comic fan—with no labels. She fights for literature, education and the right for ALL to read comics!

Yesterday was Free Comic Book Day, where you can get free comics from your favorite local comic book shop. My local shop, Amazing Comics & Cards, allowed everyone to pick up three comics. My selections are above—Dynamite’s Bob’s Burgers (because I was introduced to the show and love it), Gronk (because Katie Cook is one of the best out there) and a Doctor Who Comics from Titan. Love that it has three new stories.

My husband picked up Jurassic Strike Force 5 (dinosaurs, of course), Street Fighter (he is a dedicated video gamer) and Secret Wars #0. All in all, there were some great choices, and it was hard to pick just three.

I picked up some DC titles, for their new Convergence event.

And then I picked up a new comic called Scarlett Couture, the first issue of Marvel’s new Howard the Duck series and the second Jem and the Holograms comic—that one features Stormer!

There was also a sale on merchandise—25% off all merchandise (not issues of comics or clearance items).

I picked up two graphic novels on my wishlist—Fairest in all the Land is a standalone Fables story, featuring stories by some of the hottest talent all about Cinderella. And The Fade Out. The Fade out has been one of my favorite stories to read issues of. I love the noir mystery—it’s got some great thematic elements that I will definitely have to talk about later.

What did you get in your Haul for Free Comic Book Day 2015?
