It’s Monday, which means it is time again to hook up with the dedicated readers of the Book Date Blog and start talking about the kinds of things we’re all currently reading. I read a couple of things last week that I am working on reviews for. I have a bunch of posts I need to edit, because I am still on the mend, it’s been pretty crazy. This is what I hope to read this week:
We had a crazy first week of November, which is National Novel Writing. You challenge yourself to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. And here are my stats:
I cannot believe that it has been 15 years of my life that I have dedicated to this… It’s been totally awesome. The first year I had just found out about it and did it mostly in the comfort of the home I was living it. I ventured out in 2004 and beyond and then have only been to a few meetings and such since 2010, when I moved back to California. I miss the group of friends that I used to write with, but thanks to the writer buddies part of the site, I know their goals and can use that to make myself work a little harder. My novel this year feels a little long in places, but right in others and the pacing needs to be looked at. I want to have a complete story by November 30, but we’ll see what happens. I don’t think I’m going to just settle for 50000 words and wrap up.
We went to our favorite game store and met with friends to play a few games with friends. We played a Cyanide and Happiness game, a Star Trek trivia game (it was 20 years old AND the friend who bought it opened it on site) and then part of a Game of Thrones game where you acquire power and then spread influence. A friend won the first game. The team comprised of my husband and myself won the second game (I’m hugely into trivia). And got to only play a little bit of the third game. It was a LOT of fun, we had a good time and then ran to Newport to have a celebratory dinner for a friend’s new job. Additionally, we went and saw Thor: Ragnarok.
This little girl has been my shadow all week. Which is super awesome. I love how affectionate she is–but it is also a little crazy because she likes to get ON my computer or ON whatever I might be doing. But, it’s okay. She’s perfect, so I cannot complain. I live for the moments when I get to feel love from her.
I’ve been feeling a little better, it has been nice to relax a bit more and take time to do the things that I want to do. It’s been a nice relaxer for me. I’ve been drinking a lot of water (picked up a Sip by S’well bottle at Target on clearance). It’s been nice to try and limit myself to one iced tea throughout the day. I feel a little better going to sleep. The weather is changing, so it’s also a little cooler at night, which is really nice. It’s ALMOST multiple blanket time.
I was able to complete my Goodreads challenge for October, and I also finished my Harry Potter Knitting and crochet project for October at Ravelry. It made me feel cool to actually keep up with this. I have the House Cup challenge I’ve spoken about before that I need to update this week.
It’s Monday, What are you reading?
