Page to Screen ::Little Fires Everywhere

I just finished watching Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu last week. I’m one of those people who read the book before seeing the series.

Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu trailer

This series is an amazing case for their being room in the world for both a book AND a tv adaptation. The book was so good, the Hulu series was amazing! I enjoyed so much of it.

Little Fires Everywhere is the story of two families living in late 90s, Shaker Heights, Ohio. As someone who moved to Ohio and lived there during this time (through a more rural area), it was just like a trip down memory lane. One family is privileged and comes from Shaker ‘royalty.’ The other family moves around a lot. Their lives become entwined when the more established family rents to the other family. And life for all will never be the same.

Without giving too much away, this story is about so much more than just the people. It has a necessary conversation about race, privilege, and even hypocrisy. While the Hulu series ends differently and diverges here and there, both are solid.

Did you see the series or read the book? Let me know in the comments below.

I was addicted to this show and polished through it SO FAST as soon as a new episode was released. I never read the book though. I have heard it is so much better.
