Review:: Fudge Cupcake Murder by Joanne Fluke (Hannah Swenson #5)

I have been able to get through quite a few of these quickly, and I am happy that I have about 15 more to get through!

Hannah Swenson finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation involving her brother in law, Bill. When the Sheriff Bill is running against ends up dead (and clutching a dessert Hannah made), the Cookie Master feels compelled to help exonerate Bill and find the murderer. Her sister, Andrea, is pregnant, and at her wit’s end will Bill at home (he has been suspended from the police department while he is being investigated). Once Hannah clears Bill’s name, her sometimes boyfriend, Mike, and Bill take over the investigation.
Hannah is in too deep within her own investigation to just drop it, so she’ll have to utilize ALL the resources she has at her disposal (including a bed-ridden Andrea) to find the killer before Mike and Bill know she’s investigating on her own.

In this fifth foray into Lake Eden, residentsa re testing recipes for a cookbook to be published. There is an unknown ingredient in the titular recipe, which was fun to try and sleuth out as a reader. I was surprised after changing my mind a time or two when it came to be something local to MY neck of the woods.

Fluke does a better job (also less physical version) of the love triangle than Janet Evanovich, in my opinion. However, at one point, I was all about the Evanovich books, so we’ll see if that changes. One of the suitors has me concerned, however. I feel like his boring nature is offset by a startling revelation about him soon to be uncovered.

As has been the case in the last four, I am LOVING this series! Fudge Cupcake Murder is available in your favorite format from your favorite shop. If you want to support this blog, at no additional cost to you, consider purchasing via these links: Kindle Paperback

Who would read this: Fans of the series, cozy mystery fans, someone who wants to read a strong heroine and also have some yummy recipes, those who have seen the movies.

Time to Read: 3 hours

Funny Story: Hallmark has made a few movies featuring the characters and books of the Hannah Swenson Series. The recipe is even posted on Hallmark’s site for the thing I most want to try is the Fudge Cupcakes from this book!

Final thoughts: I’m still solidly into the series, and I cannot wait to read more.
