I have been honest about sharing my #NaNoWriMo journey this year, and while I’ve been doing this for a while, I realize that my experiences with the challenge are helping me a lot more than I anticipated.
Since I have been NaNoWriMo’ing since November 2003, I have won some and I have lost some (if we are keeping track, I am at 8 wins and 4 losses–without this year), but more than that, I have learned how I work best.
For example, I have done the whole planning and super organizational thing. But, I’ve also just done a general idea and fly by the seat of my pants (called ‘pantsing’ in the NaNo community). Both have lead to wins and losses. Thus, my list below that is sure to help veterans and newbies alike.


31 Days of Awesome: Always Reiding

Happy Monday! You know, I am having so much fun with this project, focusing on the awesome. And it is working. I really love the mindset. I am working on reading, and keeping up the books read excel sheet (which is working REALLY well) that I use to track the books I read (funny enough, I found lists dating from 2005 of books I read!).

Today, we’re planning on heading out to play some games with friends near the mountains. We plan this about once a month, due to our crazy, adult schedules. And while it is a total afternoon’s worth of activities, we get to bring our chairs to the big card table and PLAY! We also get a chance to break for yummy food. Which is SUPER nice.

Wow! What a great week so far. I did get locked out of the house briefly today (with the UPS guy when the door code didn’t unlock, and my hair was in a towel). But I got an order I was eagerly anticipating, got to spend some time with my in-laws (and a yummy dinner and catch up with them) and got to spend some quality time with my husband at a bookstore…

When I heard of the 31 Days Project, a writing challenge that challenges you to blog every day about one topic, it was a no-brainer that I needed to do it. After all, this is a month until NaNoWriMo.

And, to keep with the themes I have outlined on the blog previously, I knew exactly what my best post project would be–31 Days of Awesome. Because I need a place where I can celebrate the awesome!
