The Rogue One Post You’ve Been Looking For
As a loud and proud geek, I’m sure you’ve been waiting to hear about my take on Rogue One: A Star Wars Tale or whatever it is currently being called. This is THAT post.
When the Rogue One #3 trailer dropped earlier this week, I abstained from watching it for a day or two. Yes, it’s crazy to think that someone like me seeing Episode VII in the theatre 4 times would want to wait, but it was necessary. And totally worth the wait.
Snapping up the heroine, Jyn Erso, as an action figure was necessary. And I’m pleasantly surprised I was able to do so this early in the game and without a huge line FOR the character. I think I got lucky.
The first six movies, while they represented a new hope (see what I did there), were really the story of a father and his son. And while it was an awesome story, I’m really digging Episode VII and Rogue One having a female main character who is strong and young and aware of things–I feel like this decade in Star Wars is really about hope. That female characters are important. Don’t get me wrong, Leia held her own with a blaster and on a speeder bike, but it felt like she was there for a love story. If she wasn’t kissing her brother (not apologizing for the spoiler–you must have known), then she’s falling in love with Han Solo (AND WHO WOULDN’T?!?). Sure, she has some of the plans and she is able to get information to the resistance, but we don’t see the quiet leadership of Leia until Episode VII.
And we will not be discussing Padme, even though I have a shirt with her on it. The less said about the wooden dialogue she recited, the better.
Are you excited for Rogue One or not? Please share below.

October 16, 2016 at 9:47 amThe time frames of the Star Wars movies always confuses me. I needed my husband to explain to me which episode this one is supposed to correspond with. I chuckled when you talked about Padme. I definitely want to see this movie!

October 16, 2016 at 3:00 pmI grew up with Star Wars, but I’m not super excited. I feel like something was lost once Disney bought the rights.

October 17, 2016 at 6:13 amI am definitely in the minority but I just can’t get into Star Wars. My husband loves it, my dad loves it, and I am sure my kids one day will like it too! It does seem like a fun toy regardless! And I know my husband will take us to the movie when it comes out anyways!!!

October 17, 2016 at 5:26 pmStar Wars has always been part of growing up and I want to share that to my kids as well, which is why I was super excited when all these brand new Star Wars films are being shown. Rogue One is much awaited and I can’t be any more excited for it!

October 18, 2016 at 7:05 amI’m not sure how I feel about Rogue One yet. I appreciate the strong female characters and everything, but I’m not sure how I feel with all of these prequels and extending of older series etc. I wasn’t even a big fan of the last Star Wars. It felt like A New Hope 2.0. Everything great about the classic A New Hope, they brought over and used again. Maybe I’m a weirdo though.
